The County of Greene government provides our community with a variety of services and care. Each department within our government provides something to our community that makes Greene County a better place to live and grow. Have you ever wondered about the programs they provide and how they impact you and those you care about? Each month, we will sit down for a conversation with a representative from one of the county government’s departments to keep our readers informed of the many services available.

Greene County’s Mental Health program, part of the County’s Human Services Department, ensures residents with mental illness have  services and supports that are readily accessible.   Community mental health services are administered through county mental health program offices like that at Greene County Human Services.  The Greene County Human Services Mental Health Program serves as a referral source.  All actual mental health services are delivered by local provider agencies under contract with the county MH office.  The county MH office assists with linkage to funding, assesses the need for treatment and other support services and will make referrals to the appropriate programs that may best fit the individual’s needs.

No matter the mental health symptoms, help is available.  Asking for help is the first step to recovery. Most importantly,  help is available to assist those in need with zero judgement. The program offers a 1-800 crisis line, available 24/7 (1-800-417-9460) and crisis walk-ins are available Monday through Friday from 8:30am to 4:30pm at The Center for Community Resources located at 82 High Street, Waynesburg, PA 15370. “If you have concerns regarding your own or a loved one’s mental wellness or safety, please contact the crisis line or our office.  We want everyone to know that we are always here to help.”

“I am especially proud of the staff that I have,” shares Brean Fuller, the program director for Greene County’s Mental Health program. “They are very attentive to everyone that they encounter and want to connect them with any and every service that they may need, even if it is not MH services.”
